Biography
Frances Anne Crewe (1748-1818) was the daughter of Fulke Greville and Frances Macartney, an Irish poet. In 1766, she married John Crewe, 1st Baron Crewe, and together they had four children, two of whom reached adulthood. Lady Crewe was a political hostess with a sharp wit, entertaining distinguished politicians and writers at her husband’s seat, Crewe Hall, and her villa in Hampstead.
