Biography
Katharine Ross (nee Collace) was born in Edinburgh in c. 1635 to minister Francis Collace and his wife Marion. She had four sisters including writer Jean Collace. In 1650, Katharine married John Ross and during an unhappy marriage, they had 12 twelve children, none of whom survived. By the late 1660s, Katharine had become a follower of the Presbyterian Covenanters. After her husband died in 1674, she and her sister Jean moved to Fife and became schoolmistresses. Katharine died in July 1697.
